“Dancing israeli” video featuring dancing Israelis – Next Big News
Dressed in a bright orange jumpsuit and matching white sneakers, dancing Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Saturday to celebrate their country’s independence.
The popular music video, called “Dance Israeli,” showed the Israelis in colourful costumes dancing to the music of Tel Hashomer, the Tel Aviv-based group of dancing Israelis.
It was filmed on Saturday in front of a massive crowd of thousands, with dancing Israelis, many in full-face veil and burqa, in full view.
The dancing Israelis were joined by dozens of masked protesters from the pro-independence Movement for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, which has called for the establishment of a Palestinian state in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The pro-Palestinian activists said the video was a “poster child” for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.
The protesters also chanted slogans such as “We are the Palestinians,” and “We will return.”
They then threw stones and set fire to a car in Tel Aviv’s central Binyamin neighborhood, injuring at least two people.
In the video, the dancing Israelis are shown in a variety of outfits and wearing brightly coloured outfits, including an outfit featuring a black-and-white flag with a red star on the top, and an orange jumpsuits with red, green and white embroidery.
They are also seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and a black cap.
While the video does not explicitly call for the creation of a separate Palestinian state, the BDS movement says it is calling for the “immediate and unconditional” return of Palestinian refugees to their homes in occupied territories.
“Dancing Israelis” is the first BDS video that the group has made, and its popularity shows it’s gaining traction among Israelis who are tired of Israeli occupation and its ongoing siege of Gaza, which it says has killed thousands.
Israelis, however, say the video has little to do with the BDS cause, and they’re calling for a boycott of the Israeli products made in the West Bank.
“This video was made in order to send a message to Israel and the world that the BDS is not about our rights,” said Moti Yogev, a Palestinian woman who participated in the demonstration.
“It is about our people, our homeland, and we demand a Palestinian homeland.”
