Why does Australia’s dance belt and Asia dance moms have different styles?

Posted September 30, 2018 08:25:38 Australian dance belts and Asian dance moms are so different that there are some commonalities in the styles they offer.

Read moreAussie dance belts are all about using a longboard to make moves, while the Asian dance mom’s dance belts aim for the opposite approach.

Here are some of the differences that make up some of these styles:In Asia, longboard dance belts usually have a more fluid, dynamic and playful style, while Asian dance moms prefer to use a more rigid style that focuses on creating the perfect pose.

These differences may come down to who is more familiar with a dance belt, but the two styles share many of the same basic principles.

“The differences between Asian and Australian dance mats are mainly in the overall feel of the mats,” says Angela Gomes, associate professor of dance and dance performance at the University of Queensland.

“In Australia, the mats are typically more relaxed and more grounded, whereas in Asia they are more rigid and more like a ball.”

The Asian mats have been around for more than a century and are designed to be more dance friendly, but they are also more difficult to master, so it is worth getting familiar with them first.

“There’s definitely some overlap between Australian and Asian mats,” Ms Gomes says.

“Asian mats have a higher degree of comfort and a much softer feel, so they’re good for people with a lower back or a lower spinal injury.”

Asian mats are made with the same materials as their Australian counterparts, and are more forgiving.

“You can bend a long board and it doesn’t really bend, so you can really stretch your back without having to do anything else,” Ms Kato says.

In Australia a longboards width is approximately 2.5 metres (8 feet), while in Asia it is around 5 metres (16 feet).

Asian mats may also have a wider range of angles than those in Australia.

This may mean that a longboarding mat can also be used to dance to the beat of a drum, while in Australia a mat is typically only used to perform a specific style of dance.

“A lot of the styles that you’re looking at on a longcard can be performed from different angles on a single mat, which is very useful,” Ms Sargent says.

For those who are new to dance, the differences in the mats might seem a little strange.

“But they’re all really very similar in how they feel, because you can get the same kind of movements, and the same kinds of angles,” Ms Buhman says.

These can be a good thing for those looking to learn to dance in different styles.

“As soon as you start learning a new style, it’s like you’ve got a new skill, you can start practicing with that new style and it really opens up the whole range of movements,” Ms Mancuso says.

There are also other differences between Australian dance mat styles that can help keep people safe.

“For example, when you’re walking up and down a mat, there’s a little bit of a bump and a little bumpy feel, but when you get to the edge, there are a lot of more subtle bumps,” Ms Yoon says.

While there are different ways of matting, there is one thing that all mats can do is help make a dance routine safer for people.

“Dance mats can be used for a variety of different dance activities, including ballroom dancing, tumbling, jumping and even for body building,” Ms Noll says.
